Details people get wrong

Is there double time in Alaska?
No. Premium pay tops out at time-and-a-half however long the day runs. Only California has a general double-time requirement, so a 14-hour day is paid very differently in the two states.
Do daily and weekly overtime stack?
No. An hour already paid at the daily premium is not counted again toward the weekly 40. Weekly overtime applies only to straight-time hours beyond 40, which is how this calculator treats it.
Does this apply to every Alaska employer?
Not universally. Alaska’s overtime provisions carve out certain small employers and specific occupations, so a business below the employee-count threshold may fall outside the state rule and be governed by the federal weekly test alone. Check your situation with the Wage and Hour Administration before relying on the daily rule.
