- Is there double time in Alaska?
- No. Premium pay tops out at time-and-a-half however long the day runs. Only California has a general double-time requirement, so a 14-hour day is paid very differently in the two states.
- Do daily and weekly overtime stack?
- No. An hour already paid at the daily premium is not counted again toward the weekly 40. Weekly overtime applies only to straight-time hours beyond 40, which is how this calculator treats it.
- Does this apply to every Alaska employer?
- Not universally. Alaska’s overtime provisions carve out certain small employers and specific occupations, so a business below the employee-count threshold may fall outside the state rule and be governed by the federal weekly test alone.
